CHICAGO GIRLS is a sophisticated 8" "blue" lilac with a cream pink watermark and an ivory to chartreuse throat that starts blooming midseason. It has plant habit that I'm proud of with sturdy 37" scapes that have 6 way branching, 32 buds. Hardy semi-evergreen plants have beautiful foliage. From a cross of NANA NANCE X (MICHAEL DAVISSON X DAVI'S DILEMMA) it was my most used parent this summer because it sets pods even when it's hot. Easily fertile both ways and a visitor favorite. Very limited due to advanced reservations. Tetraploid. $100 DF (sold out)
James Marsh, a pioneer of the earliest purple tetraploids who first used the "CHICAGO" prefix would be proud of how far his CHICAGO series has come....and of the work still being done today to make the Chicago area a hotbed of hybridizing activity and innovation.
